2008-2009 MCH Certificate Application
The MCH Certificate Program is designed to provide working public health professionals an opportunity to participate in a part-time, 12-month graduate education program. The curriculum incorporates the scientific basis of public health practice, including cultural competence and leadership skills, and is tailored to each individual trainee’s learning needs and styles.
Certificate program trainees begin the program by attending a public health meeting in the Rocky Mountain region. During the 2008-2009 Academic Year, trainees must complete a series of Internet courses, participate in monthly leadership web conferences, take one 3-credit MCH graduate course, and a 5-credit hour practicum/internship. The trainees can take their 3-credit course in-person at one of the consortium universities or they can take a web-based course offered by an accredited public health program.
The courses and professional seminars enable trainees to learn new skills and expand their expertise in core public health practice. Web-based courses allow trainees to take multi-level educational offerings including fundamentals of public health, program planning and evaluation, MCH data interpretation, cultural factors, formative research, and specialized areas such as children with special needs, substance abuse, and nutrition and physical activity.
Bachelor degree level public health workers, especially those already in MCH practice in isolated areas from one of the Rocky Mountain States are encouraged to apply.
Right now, the MCH Certificate Program is not available for new applicants but we hope that it will be reopened once future funds become available.
